A Message from Your President

Ed GrayWelcome to our web ministry, which we hope will become a primary resource for brothers in Christ as you connect, celebrate and combine in men's ministry to make disciples of Jesus Christ.

End Hunger  Potato Mission
Celebrating 103 years as United Methodist Men offers new and exciting opportunities for us to continue our discipleship journey through works, study, celebration and prayer. On December 12, 2011, we continued our mission to help feed the hungry with three or more events. As in past years, we had the support of over 50 pickups and 100 plus district men to participate in our Potato Drop Projects in 2010, where we hope to distribute nearly 150,000 pounds of potatoesPotatoe Drop  to our most needy families. This ministry in partnership with the Society of St. Andrews in a mission to "introduce people to God's grace  in Jesus Christ through meeting their hunger."   This ministry has for over 30 years "...worked to fulfill the mandate of the Gospel in our lives by striving to adhere to the words of 1 John 3:18: Let us love not only in words, but in deed and in truth."  In February 2011, we partnered with the Anne Arundel County Food Bank and again through the generousity of the Society of Saint Andrews we delivered 45,000 pounds of potoates to needy fmailies in the county.

West River Retreat Center Work Days
Two times a year, the men of the district have an opportunity to be part of aRobin Hood Paintingnother mission at the West River Retreat and Camping Ministries Center.  The center's mission is to "to grow Disciples of Jesus Christ by immersion in Christian Community and by building relationships in the midst of God's Creation."  The Center needs men to help with the maintenance of the buildings and grounds.  Our work day tasks this year require many volunteers to: paint buildings, paint and repair the pool, work on landscaping in preparation for the remodeling of the existing dining hall, move some recreation equipment, construct a new storage shed and much more.

As Christian men we need to let the Holy Spirit guide and use us to reach out to the men in our community and let them see how Jesus Christ has changed our lives.  We need to embrace all men regardless of where they are in their faith journey to worship together in praise and prayer. Please join us in serving the needs of the poor and the rich, in welcoming the homeless and the indigent, in feeding the hungry, in visiting those in prison, by praying for those with addictions, in mentoring our youth especially those without fathers, in honoring our older brothers and sisters in Christ, and in standing with those who are persecuted.   Let no man be left behind.

Let us proclaim the good news that Jesus Christ is our Lord and Savior.  Let us pray for each other and let us study God's word, the Bible, so we many discover God's will for lives.

"My Father is glorified by this, that you bear much fruit and become my disciples."
