Turning
Methodism Upside Down
We must get outside the doors
of our churches and touch God's people to bring hearts to understand the
change. It is OK to agree to disagree in order to meet our
spiritual journey. What would Jesus do today to renew the Church? He knows how
to get to the heart of the matter and speaks to men's hearts also.
My favorite Bible passage is Psalm 139 for like David I believe my life is
an open
book to God. Please take the time to discover your relationship with God. Open
Psalm 139. Read it Meditate on its message. Discover a God that is always with
you; your guide on your "...road to eternal life."
Men seeking to know Jesus Christ
One
hundred and fifty United Methodist Men of the Baltimore Washington Conference
gathered at First UMC, Hyattsville, MD on Saturday, April 14th for a
celebration of God moving men to be disciples of Jesus Christ. The morning
included a welcoming by Bishop John Schol, praise and music by Al Davis and
group, laughter and prayer by our very own Bill Weller, Curtis Warren and
Hampton Conway and a scrumptious breakfast provided the First UMM of
Hyattsville. Our keynote speaker Rev. Dr. Brian W. Jackson, Pastor at
Randall Memorial UMC challenged the men to not only
talk the talk the talk but to walk the walk.
Live the example not only on Sunday but every day.
The men were also given the opportunity to read Pastor Jackson’s
personal story about his experiences with abuse,
addiction, and homelessness as child to becoming a man on fire for the Lord
Jesus Christ, through his new book, "From
the Streets to the Pulpit.
Joe Skeith, the Conference Facility Sustainability
Ministry Coordinator, UMMan of Mt Carmel UMC and
professional Construction Manager, shared his
testimony and how he became involved in this new
ministry to develop a network of professional
service and trade providers to our churches.
Joe ask the men to be part of this ministry by
entering their skills: Professional services ,
Administrative and Management services, trade
skills, and Specialty Skills. He unveiled the new
web link:
http://www.bwcumc.org/facility/facilitysustainabilityministry
that the men can go to and populate this database so
churches can search and find Christian service
providers for their church facility improvements.
